19 November 2015 – Almost 60 people comprising of the staff of Universiti Utara Malaysia, the staff of Open Universiti Malaysia and civil servants from around Alor setar were present for the EEPD Distinguished Speakers Series 1/2015 programme
which was jointly organised by Universiti Utara Malaysia and Open Universiti Malaysia.
With the theme of ‘A Challenge To Face, A Willingness To Share’ for the EEPD Distinguished Speakers Series 1/2015 Programme, the honoured guest, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Anuwar Ali delivered his keynote address entitled ‘Crafting Personalised Learning Environment For Lifelong Learning’. In his speech, he stressed the increasing interest in lifelong learning for the 21 century. In the context of education, the honoured speaker, paid more emphasize on the lifelong learning process where its specialization should be towards the much needed supportive activities on learning and educational lessons for students. With the number of adult learner students hitting 20.5 million, this lifelong learning process seems to become a catalyst in increasing one’s knowledge and at the same time spur individuals to continue to be more competitive in their fields.
EEPD Distinguished Speakers Series is an intellectual programme that will provide a venue for public figures and experts in various fields to share their knowledge and experience which can become academic materials that can be used as a guide for students as well as the public.
Also present were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huda Ibrahim representing the Assist. Vice Chancellor of the College of Arts and Sciences, Universiti Utara Malaysia and Prof. Ramli Bahroom, Vice President of Open Universiti Malaysia.
